Tennis & Pickleball
Whether you are a master, new to the game or would love to start, Catawba Island Club offers three outdoor tennis and three outdoor pickleball courts for enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. As a member, you and your family can play singles or doubles, receive professional instruction, compete in leagues and tournament play or take part in special events. The Har-Tru courts are open from May through early October.
Private Lessons
One-on-one tennis and pickleball lessons are available by appointment only. Get private lessons for $45 per person or gather friends for group lessons at $35 each (minimum of 2 people). To register, please contact head tennis professional TJ Richardson at [email protected].
Youth Tennis Clinics
Thursday & Saturday

We make learning how to play tennis fun! Boys and girls of all abilities will learn the fundamentals of the game in a fun and engaging environment. Best suited for kids 6-17 years old.

TJ Richardson, Head Tennis Professional

Timothy Richardson Jr., also known as TJ, is a proactive and dedicated tennis coach who works with athletes of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced competitors. He brings more than eight years of coaching experience to CIC and is excited to continue developing and enhancing the Club's racquet sports program.A native of Louisville, Kentucky, TJ most recently coached at Camp Winadu in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and previously served as a tennis coach at the Louisville Tennis Club from 2019-22. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation as a hardworking instructor who develops creative game strategies, while providing flexible, personalized guidance to each athlete.
Known for boosting morale and building self-confidence, TJ fosters a strong sense of teamwork and positivity among his players. He earned his bachelor's degree in exercise science from Tiffin University in May 2024.
